Provincial Results
and New Records(August
27th)
Now available on the
meet results page,
the complete, full results of the BCSSA swimming
provincial championships (including prelims)!
Provincials --
We basically kicked
it . . .
I'm just sayin'! (August
23rd Whatever.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals clapped around the
necks of Aquaduck swimmers after the BCSSA
provincial swim meet this weekend. Oh, yeah,
and a bunch of records got broken too.
Whatever. Club Records were broken, and, like,
provincial meet records were broken too.
Whatever. No biggie. So many Aquaducks had
best times. What else is new?
Check it. No big deal.
The Aquaducks kicked it -- whatdja expect? See ya.
Year End Slideshow
now posted (August
17th)
Hey, why not click in the column
right beside here. . . you know, where it says
Revelstoke Aquaducks 2010 Videos! Yeah, cuz if
you do dat, then you'll get to experience the
super-sick steeze of the Aquaducks as you watch the
2010 year end video. Special appearances by
Mary Koehle of Kelowna, Carl Cooper of Salmon Arm,
and the crazy Zoomba lady (who's probably gonna
dislocate a hip soon, if she keeps shakin' it like
that).
Potluck+Aquaducks=Perfection (August
15th)
Who doesn't like a potluck? Anyone?
Anyone? EXACTLY! We all LOVE potluck dinners. On
Tuesday, Aug.17th at 6:30pm in QE Park
behind the old pool, we'll be having our annual
Potluck dinner, brief awards ceremony, AGM, and year
end shin-dig. Bring some mouth-watering Epicurean
delights to share (bringing food would be a good
idea too!). The Aquaducks will provide beverages
(bring a lawn-chair and bring your own
plates/cutlery, please!). If mother nature gives us
the cold shoulder, we'll mosey on over to the high
school. Whether your little Turtle swam only 8 times
this summer, or whether you're Facebook friends with
Michael Phelps . . . EVERYONE IS WELCOME, so please
come out and enjoy a beautiful summer evening in the
park.
Thirty Aquaducks
heading to Provs!(August
15th)
Congratulations to the thirty
Aquaducks who qualified for the provincials!
Wow. When was the last time SO many made it to the
provincials? I sure can't recall. And to top
it off, there are at least a dozen races or so where
the Ducks are a gunnin' to make finals and stand on
the podium! Go ducks Go!
"All you need is a
lane" (August
13th)
All the
Aquaducks want to thank UofC swimmer Kevyn Peterson
for her presentation yesterday on her gold medal
swim at the World University Games in Belgrade,
Serbia last year. To hear first hand how you
barely snuck into the finals of the 400m Freestyle,
rolled the gutterball and got lane 1 AND how you put
all that aside to go on to take the gold medal --
that was truly inspiring. And your message
came at the perfect time, right before provincials.
Thanks, Kevyn!

Train Hard
-- Swim Harder? (August
9th)
The
Revelstoke Aquaducks were showin' their steeze' in
Kamloops at the Regional meet and came away with
provincial qualifying swims, a bucket of top three
finishes, and a club record, dead on the floor in
front of Wylie Harder.
The first
event, as usual, was the Individual Medley and our
Ducks strutted their feathers -- it began with some
of the youngest ducklings, Frankie Howe and James
LeBuke "killin' it" as they finished in the top 3
earning themselves a spot at provincials later this
month. Not to be outdone in the IM Beth
Granstrom's wake after her winning PQT time of
1:29.10 was so massive, that it soaked the fans
watching on deck! After them little grommers
slayed the competition, a couple of our 'sickest'
pre-adult "sis-tahs" thought that swimmin' fast
wouldn't, like, totally suck, so they powered up
their Evinrudes. Cynthia Pfeiffer finished
first in her IM swim and sister Emily finished
second. These two PQT-siblings, along with
Taylor Peterson, and the young sandwich-grabbers
LeBuke, Howe, and Granstrom all helped to get the
Ducks 'stoked' for the rest of the meet.

In later
races the excitement created by the IM swimmers just
kept flowin' -- flowin' like Willie Nelson's
hair -- right up to when Wylie swam. That
burly Harder punk just might have stolen the
Aquaducks show with his two PQT winning races! Word
got out that Harder's sprints were super-slick, and
as he broke Blair Muldoon's 10 year old club record
by .4 of a second in the 50 Free, it wasn't long
before ole' Doon was on the pool deck checking this
Wylie Harder kid out.
So even
though you don't often see real ducks swimming, ALL
these Ducks were flyin' in the pool. There
were dozens of super-fast times, best times in fact
by so many ducks! Others who qualified in individual
events included Jacob Wallach, Nolan Gale, Nadia
Salon, Claudia Cinelli, Bryce Molder, Jeff Beatty,
Rosemary Kelsall. Fifteen other Aquaducks will
also be headed to the Ploops for Provs on relay
teams!
Oh, yeah,
the Aquaducks DESTROYED the other teams in the OK
Regional Cheer competition, ONCE AGAIN! Yeah,
SICK!

Way to go Rosemary!
(August 9th)
Congrats to Rosemary Kelsell who
arrived back in Canada this weekend after competing
and finishing 8th at the World Masters Swimming
Competition in Gothenburg Sweden. Wow!
Prayers for the
Fureys
(August 5th)
In case you haven't yet heard, Chris
Furey, former Aquaduck parent, is in an Arizona
hospital under less than ideal circumstances.
I'm sure I speak for all of us in the club who know
Chris, Alicia and the kids, that our thoughts and
prayers are with you and your family.

an amazing opportunity for parents, athletes,
swimmers, and coaches. SFU head coach Liam
Donnelly is planning a HUGE conference next spring
for summer swimmers. Have a look.
Aquaduck Survey --
Coming Soon
(Aug. 5th)
Parents, along with swimmers, will have an
opportunity to give their feedback on this year's
session of summer swimming. The Aquaducks
Executive NEEDS you to take a few minutes to give
your feedback -- your thoughts and opinions go a
long way in helping to shape the club for the
future. Keep checking in for a link to this
upcoming, on-line survey.
New Club Records
(July 27th)
Congratulations to
Cynthia Pfeiffer, Taylor
Peterson, and James LeBuke for all breaking
club records so far this year. James's record is
particularly noteworthy as this young swimmer's new
record, Div.1 50m Backstroke of 47.50 eclipses a 19
year-old record held by former Aquaduck Andrew
Russell. Russell has spent the last few years
in Victoria training for triathlon on a national
level. See this Aquaduck alumnus's quick
biography
http://checkmatetriteam.com/the-team
James, you're following some pretty impressive
footsteps by beating Andrew's record! Other swimmers
such as Wylie Harder, Emily Pfeiffer, Beth Granstrom,
and Nolan Gale have swum times that have been
very close to club records -- only one or two
more meets to get those times, swimmers!
Up Next:
Regional Swim Meet in Kamloops
(July 26th)
The
second-to-last swim meet of the season is now in the
sights of swimmers: the regional meet will be
held this year, once again, at Brocklehurst pool in
Kamloops. Revelstoke parents click

for important information on the Regional Swim meet
Golden Swim Meet
(July 26th)
On
the menu at the Golden Swim meet this past weekend
(along with a scrumptious potluck dinner) were beautiful
weather and fast swimming. The Aquaducks faced off against the
Salmon Arm Sockeyes and Golden Dolphins in the
valley that separates the Purcells from the Rocky
Mountains. Several Revelstoke swimmers received aggregate medals
including Ryan Howe, Frankie Howe, Leif Carnegie,
Beth Granstrom, Anna Pfeiffer, Emily Pfeiffer, Wylie
Harder, Rosemary Kelsall, Steve Knight, Cam Molder.

Salmon Arm Swim Meet
(July 18th)
Go Aquaducks Go! The ducks waddled to
Salmon Arm this past weekend to enjoy the
competition at the Salmon Arm Sockeyes Invitational
Swim Meet. Among all the top-notch swims were
a handful of medals given to swimmers who were top
point getters in their respective categories. Div.1
girl Frankie Howe was proud to accept her silver
medal at the conclusion of the meet, her first
aggregate medal in her young swim career. Hot
on her heels was Div. 1 Boy James LeBuke who
continued his breakout year with a bronze medal
performance. Beth Granstrom left the swim meet
with a bronze dangling around her neck.
Another bronze flapjack could be seen hanging around
the neck of Division 6 swimmer Emily Pfeiffer.
Her older sissie, Cynthia' snagged a silver medal
and Nadia Salon sniped a Gold Medal aggregate medal.
As a team, the ducks girl-team finished third
overall and the boys' side finished fourth.
Way to go duck! Up next, Golden!
Thank you to Bonnie!
(July 18th)
A big thanks to Bonnie for all the
help she provides to a busy family of Aquaducks here
in Revelstoke. We TOTALLY appreciate how
helpful you are and have been over the years! And
Dori thanks you too!
Challenge Week. . .
thank GOSH it's over!
(July 18th)
Aquaducks showed their constitution
over the past week as they engaged in their annual
challenge week. Swimming, biking, hiking, more
swimming, rock climbing, camp outs, and even more
swimming, and some late night swim training were
just some of the activities this week. Thanks
to all the parents who helped out and supported
their ducklings and thanks to Sonia for all her hard
work preparing a rewarding and eventful week.
Thanks!
Revelstoke Meet a
Success
(July 11th)
Well, of course it was a success, it
always is, but WOW to some super results and some
super volunteers who made the meet run smoothly.
Congrats to Aggregate medallists: Nolan Gale, Beth
Granstrom, Claudia Cinelli, Emily-J.Woww-Pfeiffer,
Wylie-Biceps-Harder, Nadia Salon, Kevan Peterson,
and Jason Block. And how about the number of
Aquaduck swimmers who achieved Provincial Qualifying
Times! For example, a huge shout out to James LeBuke
for Killin' it in the 50m Breast! And did you
see Wylie's 50m Freestyle? Talk about sick . .
. that was just ILL! And J.Woww gets TWO PQT's!
And let's not forget Taylor, Rose, and Nadia.
Actually EVERY Aquaduck swimmer had a GREAT meet . .
. from young Kayln Gale all the way to Burly Bruce
Granstrom! Have a look at the full meet results
posted on the Results
Page.
